A millenary city, Oviedo was founded by King Fruela 1, grandson of Pelayo, and,during two centuries was the capital of the Kingdom of Asturias.Important remains of this period can still be seen.Pre-romanesque art, The Way of St James;relics such as The Holy Shroud.Today,Oviedo is a modern 21st century city with a thriving cultural scene,opera,theatre,conferences etc.It also has museums such as The Fine Art Museum, and we shouldn't forget its wonderful gastronomy and varied nightlife.A city of yesterday to lose yourself in today.
